Spirits

They are called "Aqua Vitae", "Eau de Vie" or "The Spiritual Waters" - spirits are much more than just alcohol.

To understand them, you need to know the skilful process behind their production.

The Spirit

People like to drink a beer to quench their thirst or let a glass of wine melt on the tongue. Both good beer and carefully produced wine contain a variety of aromas and flavours. The experienced master distiller endeavours to preserve and even concentrate these components when producing spirits. High-quality brandy, cognac or whisky combine a great spectrum of flavours. They impress both the nose and the palate with an intense, balanced, round and mild flavour. To produce these exquisite spirits, many components are important: ripe grain, juicy grapes, good technical conditions (such as the quality of the still), the skilful, almost subtle execution of the work involved and finally a long, leisurely maturing period, for example in handcrafted oak barrels.

Independent Bottler

As an independent bottler, we at Simon Brown are constantly on the lookout for individual, characterful spirits based on our many years of global experience. Powerful brandy for sailors and landlubbers, individual cognac from the French Charente, multi-layered rum from the Caribbean and graceful liqueurs. How about a high-quality Scottish single malt whisky, for example? It represents a piece of homeland in a glass. The crystal-clear Scottish water, the barley and the typical peat used for firing, merge with the terroir (the rugged, varied landscape and the salty, choppy sea) that the whisky inhales through the wood fibres of the casks during its long maturation period. Close your eyes and put your nose deep into the glass. Draw the scent of Scotland calmly and evenly into your nose. Put the glass to your lips and let the whisky work its magic on your tongue, chew it and try to experience what the master distiller wants to show you: a piece of art.
