The Caol Ila Distillery was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson in a bay on the east coast of Islay, just north of Port Askaig on the Islay Sound. The distillery works with 3 wash stills and 3 spirit stills and draws its water from Loch nam Ban (Torrabolls Loch).
Shimmers golden in a tumbler - subtle, delicate fruits, such as green apple and pineapple on the nose, complemented by vanilla, toasted aromas and smoke - on the tongue it develops pleasantly, with ripe fruits, citrus, banana and others, complemented by toasted aromas and smoke - soft creamy finish with length and smoke.
