The Mortlach Distillery, a traditional Distillery in Dufftown, dated back to 1823. It heartily embraces all the pleasures of good Speyside single malt: smokiness, maltiness, fruitiness, complexity. The distilling water comes from the springs in the Conval Hills, and seems to bring a powerful taste with it (the malt is only lightly peated).
The 1994 Malt is golden in colour - it seems to be flowery, fruity, malty and a little peaty - medium bodied with a kind of smoothness on the palate - the aftertaste is long and dry.
