One of the great Malt Distilleries, founded in 1779 in Bowmore, the capital of Islay. The village is in the middle of the island, on the inlet called Loch Indaal. The distillerys production is equidistant from the most intense malts of the south shore and the gentlest extreme of the north. The character of Bowmore isn't compromise, it's a mystery of enormous complexity. The water for the distillery comes from a spring of ferreous rock and wins, on the way to the distillery, aromas of peat, herbage and reed.
Lightly amber in colour - aromas of sherry, spice, lavender, erica and smoke - the body is of medium style, it seems to be sweet, spicy and smoky - delicious aperitif, long and salty.
